Advocacy group meetings provide individuals with disabilities the tools and training to be successful self-advocates.
An advocate is someone who speaks up for their rights and ensures they have access to services and life-long opportunities not unlike people without disabilities.
The Advocacy Group meets every month the second Wednesday of the month from 4:30-5:30 pm at Kaitlyn’s Cottage (1260 Ralston Avenue). Individuals engage in topics that empower and inform them. (February 12, 2020/March 11, 2020/April 8, 2020/May 13, 2020/June 10, 2020/July 8, 2020)
The Defiance County Self-Advocacy group met on Wednesday May 15th at Kaitlyn’s Cottage. The group enjoyed a snack and sang Karaoke together. They had the chance to vote on topics for future meetings. There were many new faces to the group and all reported they had a good time. The next meeting will be in July so please look for the flier in the mail. Everyone is welcome to attend and learn about how to be a better Advocate for yourself.
